Choral Scholarships at Bromley Parish Church
Choral Scholarships
At Bromley Parish Church, we have a wonderful opportunity to provide Choral Scholarships for those wanting to develop and further their singing ability. If you are looking to broaden your choral repertoire, improve your sight-reading, gain ensemble and solo experience with the added bonus of being a fun, social experience then our Choral Scholarship is for you!
We offer four choral scholarships of £480 per annum to student singers in Year 11 and above and four scholarships of £1,200 per annum to those aged 19-25. You commit to attend choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings, the sung Eucharist service on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month and choral evensong on the 2nd Sunday, with the additional preceding rehearsals where applicable. A choral Scholarship is a wonderful way of gaining experience of singing at a high standard in a group that covers a large repertoire. It is also excellent preparation for any young musician wanting to pursue music further, especially singers who may wish to apply for choral awards at university. As a Choral Scholar, you will be expected to demonstrate excellent commitment and musicianship. We are always delighted to hear from young people who are interested in joining the choir and contributing to our wonderful musical tradition.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals take place on a Thursday evening from 19.30 until 21.00 and at 10.00 before the 10.30 Sunday morning Eucharist. On the second Sunday of the month, when we sing choral evensong there is a rehearsal at 17.20.
Joining
Entry to the choir is via a short informal audition. We are looking for people with a clear voice who have some sight singing ability. Anyone interested should complete the application form and return this to the Director of Music (Frank Roddy) either by post to the church or by
